Teichmiller & Everitt Letter

November 5, 2009

HOMEWORK: Basic facts and subtracting 2 digit numbers with regrouping. Please go over your child’s work to be sure he/she understands how to do this.

PSIA – Mrs. Musgrove will be sending details via e-mail to those of you who signed up.

MATH – We have begun double digit subtraction with and without regrouping. This is difficult for the students, so please reinforce this with your child at home. Knowing basic subtraction facts fluently will help your child greatly, so get out those flash cards and games! (Regrouping is what we used to call borrowing and carrying.)

NAMES ON PAPERS: We are taking off 5 points for any work turned in without a name. Encourage your child to double check for their name before turning in papers.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Unit 3 – The Land Around Us: We will have a test over this unit next week. Watch for study sheets and books to come home.

SPELLING

Unit 11 – November 13:

MEMORY – Nov. 13: Fill in the blank:

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, “Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luke 2:8-9

Spelling and Memory lists are also on www.teacherweb.com.

AS WE ENTER THE SECOND GRADING PERIOD the work will become more challenging. Students will be expected to read directions on their own more often and work independently. Students are expected to write answers to questions in complete sentences with proper punctuation. Please take the time to review graded work in the Thursday folder and discuss any mistakes with your child.
