Career/Education Go Get It Week!

Education Go Get It Week!

Announcing Education Go Get It Week!

The district will celebrate Education Go Get It Week from October 5th -
October 9th. There will be two district activities as well as numerous
campus activities as we focus on the numerous post-secondary opportunities
available to students.

Each campus will have a special focus on college readiness and post-secondary
options for all students. We will begin the week with a College and Career
Fair at McNeil High School. In addition to representatives from over 100
colleges and universities there will be several informative presentations on
a variety of related college topics such as financial aid. College fairs
are an exciting chance to talk to the people in the know. Admission
representatives from a variety of colleges are all gathered in one place,
just waiting to answer your questions. But it is easy to get caught up in
the crowds and confusion. Using the two attachments will help parents and
students gain a clear impression about specific colleges.

CAREER FAIR: October 8, 2009 5:00 - 7:00 PM Walsh Middle School

CAREER FAIR:
As part of the Education Go Get It Week activities, there will be a career
fair for PK-8th grade at Walsh Middle School . Learn about our new middle
school program called Future Forward. It is a web-based career and college
search program that can be accessed from home. There will be presenters to
discuss topics such as saving for college, financial aid and what do colleges
look for when selecting future students.

COLLEGE FAIR: October 5, 2009 6:00-7:30 PM McNeil High School

Who should attend the College Fair? We believe the earlier the better! We
encourage parents and students to investigate the college admission process
as early as middle school. Using the following information can help you
navigate the college fair:

Think about the following questions:
Do you want to attend a two- or four-year institution?  Co-ed or single sex?
What size school do you want to attend?
What programs of study are you considering?
How far from home do you want to go?
Do you wish to participate in any specific extra-curricular activities or
athletics
