RRISD has once again begun offering Spanish-speaking parent workshops titled "Conversations of Hope" as a way to provide information on a variety of issues such as attendance laws, dropout prevention, the RRISD school system, the University Leadership Initiative, and many other topics in Spanish. The group meets every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. in the RRHS 700 building teachers lounge; no RSVP is necessary.  For more information, parents can contact Cynthia Martinez,  Parent Support Specialist at Walsh Middle School at 512.704.0806,  or contact the workshop facilitator, Maria Rosas Garcia, directly at 428-7984.

English Literacy and Civics Education (EL-Civics) Classes
Round Rock ISD offers free adult English classes through the EL-Civics grant. The EL-Civics program is designed to assist beginning English speakers whose native language is a language other than English or are immigrants. The civics education portion includes how to access local assistance agencies including health care, banking and children educational services. Classes are free but space is limited. Priority is given in order to those who have children that attend that campus, parents whose children attend any RRISD school, adults who live in Round Rock, and others if space is available. Childcare is free for children from one year to 10 years old. Space is limited.

Classes are held January through May on Mondays and Thursdays. Registration and testing are conducted on the first night of class.

Clases de Inglés para Adultos y Educación de Ciudadanía (EL-Civics)

El Distrito Escolar Independiente de Round Rock ofrecerá clases de inglés para adultos gratis a través de la beca EL-Civics. Este programa está diseñado para asistir a personas que comienzan a aprender el idioma inglés, cuya lengua materna es otra que no sea inglés o son inmigrantes. Educación de Ciudadanía es un programa que incluye información de cómo obtener acceso a las agencias de asistencia local incluyendo servicios de salud, sistema bancario y servicios para niños. Las clases son gratis pero el espacio es limitado. Se dará prioridad a los padres de estudiantes del Distrito Escolar de Round Rock. Los demás serán inscritos según vayan llegando. Se ofrece guardería para niños de 1 a 10 años de edad. El espacio es limitado.

Las clases se imparten de enero a mayo, los días lunes y jueves. La inscripción y evaluación se realizarán el mismo día que comienzan las clases.
