Class Rules

Mrs. Spann's Classroom Management
Our Golden Rule
No one has the right to prevent someone else from learning.

General Rules
1. Come to class prepared. (Homework, study for tests, supplies)
2. Follow directions first time given. (Pay attention, listen carefully)
3. Raise your hand to speak. (Wait your turn to speak, talk quietly in small
groups, do not talk during lessons or tests)
4. Stay in your seat. (Wait if possible to get a tissue or go to the
restroom until lesson is over)
5. Leave others alone. (See Golden Rule)

Super Citizen Chart
On a classroom chart, each child has a pocket in which 5 color cards are
kept. This chart will make children aware of their behavior. The colors
represent:
Yellow - Super citizen!
Red - Warning, improper behavior
Green - Lose one recess
Blue - Lose second recess
Orange - Note or call to involve parents in remedying situation

I keep track of which color card each student has showing at the end of the
day. At the end of the week if your child has had only yellow or red cards
showing, he/she will be rewarded. With this system I am reinforcing positive
behavior. If your child persits in negative behaviors that prevent other
children from learning, I will contact you. Please reinforce at home the
idea that each child is responsible for his/her behavior, and must bear the
consequences for that behavior. Self-discipline is one of the best skills a
child can learn!
