Dear Westwood Parents,
Welcome to Elementary Art at Westwood. I am looking forward to working with your children.
We will be learning how to critique art, make judgements about art, analyze art and describe art
in the third grade.
Our second graders are learning about perspective and how to create depth and space in a scene.
We will be incorporating techniques such as one and two point perspective, overlapping, placement
of objects on the picture plane and the use of shadows to increase depth and create the illusion of
three dimensionality in their art.
In first grade our students are learning about the elements of design and how to utilize line, shape,
color and texture.
The Kindergarteners are starting to learn to draw with Ed Emberley's, drawing alphabet using
dots,circles, rectangles, triangles and squiggles to create all sorts of objects. Ask them how to draw
an ant. They can already draw many things!
I am hoping to see some of you as volunteers in art this year .
