NAME:
Mrs. Lynn Hobratschk

SCHOOL:
Westwood Elementary

I have been a teacher for 19 years. After having graduated with a BA from
Concordia, River Forest, Illinois, I went to my first teaching assignment in
Boynton Beach, Florida as a fourth grade teacher for four years. My husband
and I then moved to Friendswood, Texas in 1979 where we have raised our two
children in Friendswood and its schools. My daughter graduated from
Concordia University in Austin with a BBA, and my son is a senior at
University of Texas.
My first teaching assignment in Friendswood was at Cline Primary. I was
a second grade teacher for seven years. During that time I earned my MS from U
of H Clear Lake as a Reading Specialist. I also was trained to be a New
Jersey Writing Project Trainer of Teachers. I then went to brand-new Bales as
a sixth grade teacher for four years. I helped open Lutheran South Academy by
teaching fourth grade for a year. When Windsong opened, I went there to teach
sixth grade for three years.
In 2002, the Friendswood school district offered two teachers an
opportunity to take a sabbatical to write language arts and social studies
curriculum, and I was one of the teachers chosen. The following year I became
the assistant principal at Westwood. In 2004 I was chosen to be the principal
at Westwood, a position I am honored to hold. In the year 2007 2008, we will focus on
the theme: "Celebrating 40 years of Excellence at Westwood!" I am proud
of this school where each student's success is valued.
Westwood Elementary's Goals can best be summed up with our
District Mission Statement.
Friendswood Independent School District, a partnership of students, teachers,
parents and the community, is committed to excellence for all students in the
realization of their potential through service, life-long learning and growth
in a dynamic society.
