After having graduated with a BA fromConcordia, River Forest, Illinois, I went to my first
teaching assignment in Boynton Beach, Florida as a fourth grade teacher for four years. My husband
and I then moved to Friendswood, Texas in 1979 where we have raised our two
children in Friendswood and its schools. My husband is the pastor of Hope Lutheran Church in
Friendswood. My daughter graduated from Concordia University in Austin with a BBA, and University
of Houston Clear Lake with an MS in Accountancy. My son is a graduate of the University of Texas.
He is a teacher and coach at Friendswood High School.
My first teaching assignment in Friendswood was at Cline Primary. I was
a second grade teacher for seven years. During that time I earned my MS from U
of H Clear Lake as a Reading Specialist. I also was trained to be a New
Jersey Writing Project Trainer of Teachers. I then went to brand-new Bales as
a sixth grade teacher for four years. I helped open Lutheran South Academy by
teaching fourth grade for a year. When Windsong opened, I went there to teach
sixth grade for three years.
In 2002, the Friendswood school district offered two teachers an
opportunity to take a sabbatical to write language arts and social studies
curriculum, and I was one of the teachers chosen. The following year I became
the assistant principal at Westwood. In 2004 I was chosen to be the principal
at Westwood, a position I am honored to hold. It is my mission to ensure a safe and dynamic
education for each child who enters Westwood. With a highly qualified staff of caring people, we
desire to serve our Westwood families by doing our best to tend to each child's individual needs.
