Specials Schedule this week:
November 2-6, 2009
We will have P.E. on Tuesday and Thursday!
Peek at the Week:
Reading: This week we will be determining causes and effects. (Cause is the reason why, and effect
is what happened.) Enjoy some Laura Numeroff (If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, Pig a Pancake, Moose
a Muffin, Cat a Cupcake, etc.) books with your child and ask them to identify the cause and effect of
various events in the story.
Writing: We will look at some more examples of good leads this week. We will specifically look at
starting a story by describing the setting. We will also write our own cause/effect story as modeled
in all the Laura Numeroff stories. Help your child brainstorm an "If...Then..." idea for their story!
Spelling/Language: Our spelling pattern this week is words with the long e sound spelled as ea. We
will be talking about adjectives and describing familiar objects and friends.
Math: Our new unit, probability, starts this week! We will be talking about tally marks, tables,
graphs, most likely, and least likely.
Science: We will be talking about the weather this week.
