First let me tell you that I am NOT sending home Friday Folders this Friday, Nov. 20.  It is just one more thing to have to keep up with over the holidays =).  I will be sending lots of notes home in your child's homework folder though so please be sure to check it for me.

One of the notes you will find is a service project we are doing in third grade.  It is called Santas for our Soldiers!   We are going to be sending care packages to two platoons of servicemen and women, one serving in Afganistan and one in Iraq.  This is something that is very near and dear to my heart.   You may or may not know that my husband served over in Iraq back in 2005 and I KNOW how very much these men and women appreciate the care packages and letters from home.  I cannot imagine having a member of my family so far away from home during the holidays ~ I was lucky enough to have Larry back home in time to celebrate the holidays but others are not so fortunate.   We will be collecting items the week of November 30 - December 4 so if you have some time during the holiday to do a little shopping for these men and women it would be great.  The note has specific things we are looking for so you do not have to guess at what is needed.  Thank you in advance for supporting our troops.

I hope all of you have a fabulous and safe Thanksgiving holiday with family and loved ones.  I know many of you have travel plans and others like myself will be spending it right here at home. I cannot wait to hear all of the stories from my students when we get back.
