You should NOT be seeing a lot of homework coming home in your child's homework folder at night. After a long day at school I want your child to relax and enjoy their childhood! However, I have noticed that my student's spelling grades have been falling this first nine weeks so I have decided that we will begin having spelling homework each night in order to prepare for Friday's test. Each Night your child should be: * Studying math facts for 10 - 15 minutes. Start with the addition facts to 18 then progress to subtraction, mulitiplication (through 12's), and division facts. Mrs. Campbell will LOVE you guys if you do this =) * Read grade level books for 15 - 20 minutes each night for their Reading Logs. Those students who go to either Mrs. O'Brien or Mr. Cloyd and have a reading book from them may count the minutes they read for those classes toward their weekly reading goal of 100 minutes In addition to the above the following Spelling homework will be given: Monday ~ new list comes home and students will write their spelling words 2x each Tuesday and Wednesday ~ One of the following assignments will be given: ABC order, Spelling Sort, or Rainbow writing Thursday ~ Study for your test tomorrow Thank you for helping your child have a successful year. =)
