About The Teacher
Hello! I am so excited to be returning for my fifth year at this AMAZING school! My Name is Laura Rachita. I was born and raised outside of Buffalo, New York. I graduated from Baldwin-Wallce College and Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio in 1992 with a degree in Music Education. I have a voice major and a piano minor. I also hold a Master's degree from UHCL in Counseling. My husband and I spent our honeymoon driving a UHAUL truck to Houston, Texas in July of 1992! I taught in Pasadena I.S.D. for 8 years as an Elementary Music teacher, Junior High Choir director, and a Counselor, grades 6-8. For 5 years, I have also taught flute for FISD. I play flute, piccolo, piano and recorder. I have volunteered as an accompanist and director of the children's music ministry for 12 years at my church. I also have been the musical director for several productions of the community group United Players. I have two beautiful children who attend Bales. I have an amazing husband who is my best friend! I can't wait to work with your wonderful children!
Mission Label:
Mission
My mission for music class is that each student finds at least one area in music they enjoy. We will explore MANY areas of music, including: rhythm reading, melodic reading, instruments, recorders (3rd grade), grade level performances, singing, sing langauage, composers, and LOTS OF MOVEMENT! Music is interractive and active! Your child will be expected to be an active participant in class each and every day! I hope they leave each class with a smile on their face, a song in their heart, and a tune on their lips!
