When will home readers begin?

After I assess your child's reading level, I'll be happy for your child to
bring home readers home each night.  Your child will bring readers home which
should be an independent level for him/her.  There should not be a whole lot
of work which needs to be done in this book.  
You are there to listen to your child, not to teach your child.  Remember to
keep reading to your child each night too!  They LOVE that time with you!

When will homework begin?

I will begin to assign just a few things in the next few weeks.  Homework is a
quick review of things learned in class and should not take long.  I see
homework in first grade as a routine - just getting used to doing some work
and being responsible for getting it completed and back to school!

When is our library day?

Our library day is on Monday and we'll be starting on the 2nd week of school.

Do you really have to initial the conduct folder every night?

I told your child, I'm not going to punish THEM if you forget to initial it! 
I do expect you to look at it every night, just to see how things are going. 
I am NOT going to be a stickler for the initials!
