SEMESTER PROJECT
POWERPOINT OVER A CHOSEN CAREER
One way for students to begin thinking about the future is to have them
prepare a presentation on future careers. A good site to research is the
U.S. Department of Labor (www.dol.gov) and browses the Occupational Outlook
Handbook. (Students will be given a packet that shows examples of how the
PowerPoint should be laid out)
OVERVIEW:
You will be given class time to research a "future" career that you
seriously think you might enjoy doing. Your research will include the
following information:
*Name of your career
*Brief description
*Education Requirements
*Expected Salary (low to high)
*Workplace Environment
*5-8 interesting facts about your career not relate
*Pictures that depict your career choice (use these on your
slides)
1. Students will write the information on the Careers Worksheet (attached to
your packet)
2. After gathering the information, students prepare an 8-12 slide
Presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint.
3. Students will be required to various aspects of PowerPoint:
*design templates, bulleted lists, clip art, page layouts,
translations, transitions, animation schemes, rehearse timings
and sound (optional)
4. Students will need a copy of any online research used to create the
PowerPoint and a printed copy of the PowerPoint show slides.
5. Students must showcase their PowerPoint for Mrs. Penney in class ---live
on the computer---not on a disk.
6 Projects will be graded on the following criteria:
*Research (quality and correctness)
*Creation of the PowerPoint based on creativity and level of
advancement.
*Final show and handouts.
***This is their semester test grade.
If we have any time left in class, students will work on uncompleted lessons
in Microtype.
***Sometimes due to a shortage of books---we will flip-flop the 2nd Six Weeks
for the 3rd Six Weeks
