What's Our Homework?

Yes, first grade has homework! All homework assignments are due on Friday. If we do not have school on Fridays, homework is due on Thursday.

Thank you for remembering to take all notes and graded papers out of your Home Folder nightly. If you need to bring a note to school, place it in the "Graded Papers and Notes" pocket in your home folder. Our goal is for all first graders to pack their own backpacks and prepare their own home folders daily.

When you bring money for T-shirts, pictures, or lunchcards, write your name and Mrs. McCoy's name on the envelope. Put the envelope in the zipper pocket in the home folder.

Already in the Baggie Book Bag is a Reading Record form. Please ask Mom or Dad to help you record your reading minutes daily. Books may be read to you, you may read to someone, or you may want to do shared reading. Mom or Dad could be your home Reading Buddy! Reading our Newsletter counts as reading minutes! Homework will be in Reading, Math, Science, Spelling, Word Work, etc. When you finish reading your group book at school, you may take it home to share with your family. Be sure to write it on your Reading Record.

Enrichment and Challenge homework is also provided. Some challenge assignments are given orally in class. As with all challenge activities, these are OPTIONAL. These activities are just another way of assessing student interests, maturity and desire to self-extend.

Thanks to all my first graders who remember to return their Library Book and Home Folders daily.

HOMEWORK REMINDER: Neatness Counts!! Write in pencil, please.
