5th grade grading guidelines
2008-2009
Late assignments:
10 points per day up to 3 days
Student will receive a zero by the 4th day
Student may be asked to finish the assignment during recess or extension.
Parents or guardians are notified via late notice note and/or Friday folder.
Grade requirements
Social Studies Test grades count twice. Grades are not weighted.
Science Test grades count twice. Grades are not weighted.
Reading Test grades count twice, grades are not weighted
Language Test Grades and projects count twice
*Language/Writing = 70%, Spelling 30%
AR points are considered extra points.
Math Test grades count for 60% and daily work 40%
Technology Grades are not weighted.
**Students are not allowed to correct their test grade for a 70 if they fail
the test
Absent work
Students are responsible for obtaining the missing assignments from each
teacher.
Parents may request missed materials in advance of students return if the
student has been absent for more than one day. Student will be given an
extra day to finish their work for every day missed.
