About The Teacher
I am a 2nd career teacher....meaning I stayed home with my children then returned to school and finished my degree in 1999. I have been blessed to teach 6th grade Science and Social Studies at Windsong since December 1999. I truly believe I have one of the best jobs in the world! I am very happily married to Dwight, my husband of 29+ years! We have 3 wonderful children: Darin, 27, who graduated from Texas Tech in 2005 and married a beautiful girl, Erin, in June of 2005. They are currently living in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Emily, 25, a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M, now pursuing a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee. Dillon, 20, a Junior at Texas A&M University. WHOOP! Other family members: Precious "Yorkatese" named Riley....part Yorkie, part Maltese, 100% high energy puppy! Kaa - very friendly ball python approximately 10+ years old Chachi - 3 year male chinchilla I enjoy almost anything outdoors. I have completed 2 full marathons, climbed Guadalupe Peak, and hiked all over Glacier National Park this summer. I love children, especially 6th graders! I love to make learning fun and look forward to spending this year with my new kids. Once I have a student in my class, they will forever be mine!
Mission Label:
Mission
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY: I believe that the best learning takes place when students enjoy a good relationship with their teacher and classmates and are given an opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences. I also encourage problem solving and critical thinking, and I try to develop that in all my students. That philosophy drives my classes, and I hope to instill a life long love of learning in all the students I teach.
