Reading Requirements:
I require 10 Reading points each 9 weeks. Points can be earned by
reading any book. If a book isconsidered AR, Accelerated Reader, the
student may take the AR test provided on our library computers. If
the book is not considered AR, a book report may be written. It must
be at least one full page and must include the title, author of the
book, and number of pages in the book along with a one page summary
of the book. Points will be given according to the length and level
of the book. At the end of each 9 week period, there will be a reward
movie, based on literature, for those students who reach their goal.
I want your child to enjoy reading everyday, so anything they read
counts.

**READING STRATEGIES
1. Read the title. What is the passage about?
2. Read the questions and answer choices; highlight key words.
3. Read the passage, twice if necessary. ** As you read, and come
upon the answer to a question, underline the information and place
the number of the question above the answer in the passage.
4. Answer the questions: 1) Eliminate wrong answers, 2) Put a maybe
dot by the answer that could be correct, 3) Circle the answer that
has the most complete information that is
correct. 4) If it is a fact or opinion question, eliminate the
opinions or the facts first, whichever you are not looking for, then
circle the opinion or fact that is found in the
passage. 5)* Place the paragraph number where the answer was found
by the question.
5. Two finger check. Make sure you check the answers from your
booklet to the answers
on the bubble sheet.
