Although it is not required, I will do my best to post homework each day
here on my website. Check the date before you do the homework because
sometimes I post a few days of homework in advance. However, don't rely on
this. Remember to write in your organizer daily so that you'll know what
homework you have. This posting is mainly to be used in case you cannot read
part of what you wrote down.
If you forgot a book you need for homework, call a friend. :-) If you can't
find your DROPS for math, get the problems for that page from a friend and I
will accept that. If you are missing the entire packet, talk to me about it.
I may have an extra one that I can give you in exchange for a missing
materials conduct mark.
I view homework as extra practice for skills learned in class and as an
opportunity for parents to see the types of skills their child is learning
in class. Students usually are informed of a test at least one week prior
to the test.
MATH:
I usually give math homework on Monday through Thursday. The
homework assignments usually have 15 to 20 problems along with the Drops In
The Bucket warm-up. There may be times when an assignment has more problems
than this and there might be occasional weekend work. Students should show
work for most problems. If you have difficulty with adding, subtracting,
multiplying, or dividing, you should be practicing daily on memorizing your
math facts. Math will be easier and faster if you know your basic facts! :-)
SCIENCE:
Science homework usually involves studying vocabulary and notes for tests.
Students are expected to start studying vocabulary and notes each day from
the moment they first receive them, until the test is given. I try to
encourage students to study a little everyday rather than trying to memorize
vocabulary and notes the night before a test.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
Social Studies homework usually involves studying vocabulary and notes,
which are in the History Alive spiral and workbook, for tests. Students are
expected to start studying vocabulary and notes each day from the moment
they first receive them, until the test is given. I try to encourage
students to study a little everyday rather than trying to memorize
vocabulary and notes the night before a test. Don't forget to use the Social
Studies link on my link page to study for Social Studies tests! It really
helps!
