What is the grading policy for Spanish?

This grading policy is aligned directly with Spanish I at Carroll
High
School. As there are no exceptions to this policy, please read
carefully:
25% - DAILY WORK(homework, mini-quizzes)
Homework is given daily and is expected to be completed by the
next class. Mini-quizzes are frequent (4-5 week) and are given
as
a check for mastery of the homework. Late work is not accepted.
Students
without 100% COMPLETED homework will sign the "ZERO"
book in class. Students
MAY NOT return to their locker to retrieve homework.

25% - QUIZZES
Normally, there are 4-8 quizzes per six weeks, including
spelling quizzes
and listening quizzes. There are no QUIZ retakes!

50% - TESTS
Normally two major tests will be given each six weeks. There
are NO test
retakes!

*Students will also give presentations and be given project
assignments.
These usually count as TEST grades, but are sometimes QUIZ
grades. Projects
and presentations cannot be made-up or retaken.

Not only is late work not accepted, no quiz/test retakes or
curving will be
given. Academic Dishonesty will result in an automatic
"0" in accordance
with the CISD Code of Conduct.

How are pesos earned and what are they used for?

Students can earn pesos in a variety of ways, mainly while
participating in
class during games or activities and sometimes when returning a
signed form
or certain document or assignment on time, etc. ALSO--Students
start out with pesos
every 6 weeks. If they speak ENGLISH in class, they have to pay
up! Students
must hang on to their pesos for the Peso Spending Day at the end
of each
semester (2 total for the year). The more dough you have, the
more stuff you
get!

Absent Policy

Students receive one school day for everyday they miss to make up
work.
(This does not include weekend days.) Homework, quizzes, tests
and mini-
quizzes previously announced/assigned are expected to be
completed upon
returning to class. Failure to turn in homework or make-up
assessments will
result in a 0 for the grade. It is the STUDENT's responsibility
to keep up
with all make-up work.
