**Congratulations to the TAG Magnet Destination Imagination teams that participated in the DI Regional tournament at Greenhill School, Addison, last Saturday, February 18. All the teams did outstandingly well, placing 1st or 2nd in the various challenges.
Two of our teams that placed 1st will advance to the state tournament to be held April 13-14, in Corpus Christi, under the theme “Floating with Creativity”. Teams that advance from the state tournament go to the DI Global Finals, to be held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville May 23-27.
TAG teams and their awards are listed below:
•The Real Kids, 1st Place Team, Challenge C, Secondary Level, comprised of -Carmen Maciel, Hershey Pilla, Kendall McCune, Diamdee Johnson and Konrad Witkoski.

**Sheridan Taylor (Class of 2012), a National Merit Finalist, has been selected as a 2012 recipient of the NCWIT DFW Metroplex Affiliate Award for Aspirations in Computing by the National Center for Women & Information Technology DFW Metroplex Awards Committee.
She will be recognized for her computing-related aspirations and for her demonstrated, outstanding aptitude and interest in information technology/computing; solid leadership ability; good academic history; and plans for post-secondary education. Congratulations for receiveing this distinction.
Sheridan will be recognized at the Metroplex Technology Business Council Tech Industry Luncheon on Friday, April 20, 2012.

**Rising seniors, Sofia Weir and Emma Fullinwider, traveled to El Salvador after receiving a grant from the Omprakash Foundation. They provided training and materials to elementary school children. Click on their names to see their profiles and read about their experiences.
**Rising junior, Sheridan Taylor, organized the Girl Power Conference to empower and encourage middle school girls to pursue their dreams. Her event is featured in Advocate Magazine. See the article here.
**Sara Edris, Class of 2010, was named the 2010 College Board State AP Scholar. The award is given to the top male and female students in each state who achieve scores of three or higher on the greatest number of AP exams and the highest average score on all AP exams taken.

**Mrs. Deborah Maner, TAG Cluster Coordinator and Science Department Chair is among seven secondary teachers who are the 2010 Texas Instruments Foundation Innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Teaching Awards recipients. The award was created by the Texas Instruments Foundation to honor innovative classroom teachers who are greatly enhancing student achievement and increasing interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Each recipient will receive $10,000, of which $5,000 is directly awarded to the classroom teacher and the other $5,000 is to be used at the discretion of the teacher for professional development and/or instructional technology.
