In 5th Grade, students learn about the history of the United States including but not limited to:

  • regions in the United States

  • how people adapt to and modify the environment

  • characteristics and benefits of the free enterprise system

  • describe economic activities in the United States

  • Declaration of Independence

  • identify important leaders in the national government

  • customs and celebrations of various racial, ethnic, and religious groups

  • contributions of famous inventors and scientists

I use Track 9 from the States and Capitals CD by Twin Sisters to help students learn their states and capitals.


These books, guides, and dvds from Amazon.com provide excellent supplemental Social Studies teaching tools. I have used all of these items in my class lessons. They work. Best of all . . . The students love them!
