School & Classroom Photos

Shiner Independent School District

Here is the silo-type main
entrance to the school. We
are within walking distance
of the track, the football field,
and the Green-Dickson Park.

Building

This building contains our
classroom! Elementary (Pre-K -
6th grade) students learn on the
1st floor. We are looking forward
to the 2008-2009 school year. It
will be a great one!

Hallway

Hallway leading to the library,
computer lab, and gym--Don't you
love the purple & gold?
GO COMANCHES!

COME ON IN! GLAD YOU ARE HERE!

Mrs. Kalich's Room! This is the
view as you enter the classroom.
Here's where lots of learning
will take place! We have two
computers. We watch United
Streaming videos on our TV, which
was donated by our PTO.

Environment

Butterflies and flowers create a
nice learning environment
throughout the classroom. We also
enjoy listening to various types
of music, which we play on our cd-
player as we work in 5th-grade.

"The Corner"

Student information and
announcements (calendar, lunch
menu, rules & procedures, and
misc. notes) are displayed on
the smaller bulletin board.
Students may give presentations
from our podium. This corner is a
super location for silent
reading, group work, or
cooperative learning. Find lots
of books and reference materials
(Highlights Magazines, Kids
Discover Magazines, atlases,
encyclopedias, dictionaries,. . .)
here also!

Filing Cabinets & Divider

The antique 3-fold divider is
covered with felt. I use posters
with velcro for an easy and quick
way to change visuals. The
Vocabulary words and definitions
for the week are displayed on the
side of the filing cabinet. We
use these cards to participate
in "vocabulary concentration."

"The Back"

This is the back view. We store
our textbooks in cubbies. Our
reading games, chess games,
states games, social studies
library, supplemental reading
resources, white-board paddles,
and art supplies are stored here.

THANKS for stopping by!
