2nd Quarter December 14 - 18 This week we are working on our Playwright Unit. Each student will complete a series of short writing assignments to help them think like a playwright. This unit will culminate in writing a flash play (a short part of a longer play). December 7 - 11 Students are performing their monologues beginning on Tuesday. Each student needs to perform one minute of a monologue given to them in their packet. Students have received a rubric & should understand the requirements. Failure to perform the monologue on the assigned day will result in a LATE PENALTY of 30% & the assignment must be made up BEFORE or AFTER school. November 30 - December 4 Students are working on a monologue. They are to choose one of five options & memorize one minute to perform for the class. Students will have a peer evaluation day either Friday or Monday. Performances will begin Tuesday, December 8th. Failure to perform the date it is assigned will result in a 30% grade deduction if it is made up before of after school during the next week. Novemeber 23 & 24 Commercial time! Students will show the class their commercial either live or on DVD/VHS. Failure to perform before Thanksgiving break will result in a 30% grade deduction. November 16 - 19 Students have taken on the role of advertising executive this week. They have come up with a product, marketed to teens, to create an ad campaign around. Each group will complete a storyboard, a commercial, & a billboard/magazine ad for their product. Commercials will be shown to the class Monday & Tuesday of next week. STUDENTS WILL NEED TO SHOW THE COMMERCIAL PRIOR TO THANKSGIVING BREAK! November 9-13 Students will be presenting their Manuscript Reading assignment in class this week. Each student has chosen one of the three manuscripts provided. The first part of the week will be preparing for the presentation that will take place Wednesday & Thursday. All students have been given a rubric & understand what is expected of them. November 2-6 This week we are working on proper voice technique. Students must choose a manuscript to read to the class from one of the three provided. Each student will demonstrate their understanding of projection, articulation, & inflection.
