Drama Prep - 3A & 4B

2nd QUARTER

JANUARY 4 - 8
This week we will be performing our Community of Caring speeches. Students who are unprepared the day their speech is due will receive a 30% grade deduction if it is turned in late. Students will also begin work on their final drama assignment: Talk Shows.

DECEMBER 14 - 18
Students will be working on their Community of Caring speech. They will receive a rubric outlining the details of the assignment in class. Each student will choose one of the five values (respect, responsibility, trust, caring, & family) & discuss it in a two minute speech. We will be working on the outline in class & practicing in front of a peer this week. The speech will be presented to the class & graded following Winter Break.

DECEMBER 7-11
This week we will be working on an impromptu school announcement & reviewing how to outline & put together an extemporaneous speech.

NOVEMBER 30 - DECEMBER 4
3A: we will be working on an in class debate. Students will divide themselves into debate groups and work on either the pro or con side of the argument.
4B: we will be finishing up our memorized speech.

NOVEMBER 23 & 24
A short this week because of our Thanksgiving Recess! We will be performing our skit for the talent show on Tuesday during 1st period (the assembly is scheduled to begin around 8:30 am). You are invited to attend. 3A will be finishing up their memorized speech performances on Monday. 4B will be presenting their speeches following Thanksgiving.

NOVEMBER 16 - 19
Students are finishing up projects this week. We will begin performing our memorized speeches starting Wednesday, November 18th; continuing through to next week. Students have been given their date of the performance & must be prepared the day it is due. MAKEUP WORK WILL BE RECEIVED FOR 70% ORIGINAL VALUE. Our skits for the talent show will be practiced & prepared for next week's assembly. Parents are invited to attend the talent show on November 24th during 1st period (roughly 8:30 am). Students are responsible for their costume. Please plan on having your student to the school by 7:00 am the morning of the 24th.

NOVEMBER 10 -13
Students are working on two projects until Thanksgiving. First, the class is presenting a skit for the 7th grade talent show (which is held November 24th during first period). We will be putting the skit together in class. Second, students will work on a memorized speech. Students received a packet of Presidential Speeches. They must choose from the options, memorize one minute, & present it to the class as if they were the really delivering the speech. They will be free to work on memorization when they are not needed on stage to practice the skit.

NOVEMBER 2-6
Students are working on two projects until Thanksgiving. The class is presenting a skit for the 7th grade talent show & a memorized speech. Students received a packet of Presidential Speeches that they must memorize one minute from. They will be free to work on memorization when they are not needed on stage to practice the skit.
