CLASS GOALS: Develop thinking skills, develop a connection to the region you live in, help writing and research skills, explore different domains of Social Studies such as economics, sociology, politics, geography and history. CLASS RULES 1. Sit in assigned seat 2. Respect Instruction 3. Respect Others 4. Work throughout the Time given. MATERIALS • Please have a notebook or 3 ring binder ready for Utah Studies with lined paper and folders to store assignments, and materials. • Students are issued a textbook and are responsible for its care. Fines are issued for lost or damaged books. • Pencils only please. Have a good supply on hand to always be prepared GRADES AND CITIZENSHIP: • Grading will come from daily work and assignments, individual and group projects, and exams. • Exams will come from material covered in the assignments and from their notes. • Updates of grades come at midterm and term end. • Student work needs to be handed in on time, except from excused absence. Assignments also need to be complete to receive credit. • In the case of an excused absence, students will have three days to hand in make-up work. • From time to time I have students correct each other’s work. If this is a problem please inform me immediately. • Citizenship will be determined from classroom behavior and Evergreen and Granite School District policies and the guidelines listed above.
