Algebra, Pre-Algebra 8th
ACADEMIC OBJECTIVE:
Each student will successfully complete the year. This will require
each student to pay attention in class, ask questions, obtain help outside
the class period when needed (before school), and complete assignments. The
Granite School District Homework Hotline is available between 5 and 8 PM
Monday thru Thursday at 964-7523. I will follow the state core curriculum for
Algebra and Pre-Algebra. The topics can be accessed on the district website:
www.graniteschools.org.
HOMEWORK:
Usually there are daily assignments given. All assignments should be
completed before class to obtain full credit. Time is given daily in class
to start the assignment, but generally most students require some additional
time to complete it. The assignments are reinforcement and practice of
concepts we will be covering and thus must be done daily in order for the
student to be prepared. Assignments are worth ten points each. One bonus
point will be awarded if a parent checks and signs a homework assignment.
Students are highly encouraged to turn in homework on time. NO LATE
ASSIGNMENTS!
TESTS:
Tests are given after each chapter and quizzes periodically. It is
the responsibility of the student to make up tests if absent. The score for
the CRT test will be part of the 4th term grade.
PARTICIPATION:
Active participation is a necessary component of this mathematics
class. The learning log is one part of participation and will be utilized
on
the daily basis. (DEAR Time participation is a component for periods 2A and
2B.)
GRADING SYSTEM:
The term grade is determined from homework (30%), participation
(10%),
