ESL Classes

Oct. 21  "B" Day  3B  7th and 8th graders worked on Biography of Sacagawea 
and wrote a 2 page report about her.  9th Graders took spelling test on 
Jewel in the Sand, worked on singular and plural nouns, and few and many.  
They starte writing on My Access a story about their childhood they remember 
very well.
                   4B  Mrs. Sheffield worked with pronouns and small words 
with vowels.  Mrs. James's group finished the biography Sacagawea and read 
the paper with more than 25 facts.  We played a game recalling the facts and 
Joubin won.


Oct. 20  "A" Day  1A  We worked on the words PAID, ANGRY, THREW, USE  We did 
skits about two students being angry and talking to each other.  We played a 
game using a ball and saying the words, "I threw the ball to ___________."
                  3A  We reviewed the words from "Living in a Community" 
novelette.  We wrote a paragraph using the words urban communities, sububan 
communities, and rural communities and telling what they are like.  We 
discussed the terms "dressing up" for Halloween in English.  We played the 
game, "What's my line?"  Azat won--no one could guess he was a "sniper."


Oct. 19  "B" Day   3B  Did "Jewel of the Sand" as a play, had a practice 
spelling test.  Mrs. Sheffield took the 7th and 8th graders and worked on 
the book Sacagawea for Mrs. Soltise's class.
                   4B  Mrs. Sheffield's group worked on sounds that letters 
make and Mrs. James's group worked on finishing the book Sacagawea.



Oct. 16  "A"  Viewed the weather report or newscasts and had popcorn.  This 
assignment was worth 50 points.


Oct. 14
1A  Weather reports. Students must know the words, "sunny, rainy, partly 
cloudy, snowy, Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake, Provo, St. George, and Moab.  Filmed 
weather reports.  Did weather worksheet while others filmed.
3A    News report teams-- students need to know and 
understand the words: local, national, international,  who, where, when, 
what and why.  Write  and filmed news stories.  Students worked on weather 
report worksheet while others filmed.

3B  Mrs. Sheffield is working with 7th and 8th graders reading the biography 
Sacagawea and writing 25 facts from her life.
     9th graders are reading news articles from newspapers and writing three 
questions from international, national, local, science, weather, religion 
and cultural newspaper articles and writing the answers from the articles.

B Day We will be reading a non-fiction article on nomads and a fictional 
story, a folktale, "Jewel in the Sand."  We will work on the computer doing 
a report on "Shelters" and birthstones. Students must know how to spell and 
understand the words:  daughter, earrings, jewels, nephew, princess, uncle, 
welcomed.  Do retell and review. Do comprehension questions. Do play with 
group.  Finish "Birthstone" page on word or powerpoint.
