DisclosureDISCLOSURE STATEMENT MRS. KEIL ROOM 10 7TH GRADE INTEGRATED SCIENCE
Rules in my classroom are few. I believe that as all children are different, and all actions and reactions are very personal in nature, effective discipline involves a few overriding principles rather than a long list of specific rules. Situations are dealt with as they arise with the focus on enabling the student to grow and learn from his or her actions. Guidelines for student behavior: You may engage in any behavior which does not create a problem for you or anyone else in the classroom. If you find yourself with a problem you may solve it by any means which does not cause a problem for anyone else in the classroom . You may engage in any behavior that does not jeopardize the safety or learning of yourself or others. Unkind words, swearing and put downs will not be tolerated. Consequences: The student will solve the problem by writing down what happened. This statements by the student will be signed by Mrs. Keil, the student and the parents. The student will talk about it to those involved. There will be a phone call home. If the problem persists, the assistant principal may become involved. Grade: The grade that you earn in this class will depend on the number of points you earn on all of your assignments/quizzes/test combined. It is very important that you complete all assignments. The grading scale is provided at the end of this disclosure. Homework: Some assignments will become homework if not finished in class. An average of one assignment per week will be given for homework. Late Work: One day late for ½ credit on the assignment. This means the next day, not the next time we meet as a class. Extra-credit: Extra credit will be given throughout the year for various reasons. There will be no out of classroom extra credit like reports on certain topics. Reading: Reading will be mandatory during the first 18 minutes of 2nd and 6th periods. This will be part of your grade. A reading log will be used to document reading. Bring your own reading material that is appropriate for school. Lab Fee: There will be a $10.00 lab fee for science. This can be a check that would include all other fees for other classes and turned in at the office not Mrs. Keil. The check should be written out to Evergreen Jr. High School.
