Philosophy of Education:

All students have the right to an education that allows them to succeed. I believe in a student-centered classroom where student’s ideas and participation are important. I want every student in my classroom to feel comfortable and excited to learn. My goal is to teach students to find connections and enjoy learning, school should be fun and I hope to be a contributing factor.

Rules:

  • Students need to be on time. On time is, in their seat when the bell rings.
  • Students need to be prepared for class, this includes: pencil, paper, book, and assignments.
  • Students need to be respectful at all times, to the teacher, to their peers, and to the property around them.
  • Students need to be responsible for their actions, they will receive a verbal warning for any problems, and contact will be made with their parent or legal guardian. If the behavior does not change the student will be referred to the administration.

Grading:

  • Students will have daily assignments and chapter tests; they will be tested on material covered in the assignments and in their notes.
  • Assignments will be given full credit for being complete and showing all work.
  • Assignments must be complete or they will receive no credit.
  • Tests will be graded as a percentage based on the highest grade achieved in the class.
  • Final grade will be determined by a percentage of points earned over the course of the quarter.
  • Extra credit is not available.
  • Citizenship grade will be determined by classroom behavior and school policy.

Supplies:

  • Paper for note taking.
  • A pencil.
  • If you are in math during 2nd or 6th period you will need a reading book for DEAR time, dear time will not be graded, you will be expected to find a great book and enjoy the opportunity to read.
  • You may, but it is not required, have a calculator in class. Calculators are not allowed on tests and quizzes.
  • Access to the Internet will be an important resource for this class. It will be used to take quizzes, find assignments when absent, and check grades.
