Brain physiology determines how we learn, yet students rarely understand how
they can best use it to maximize their understanding and retention. One
tool we use is VAK: visual, auditory and kinesthetic pathways. Cooperative
learning is a valuable tool to access these pathways. Therefore,
cooperative learning teams have been included in my teaching strategies
repertoire. Granite School District embraces the Community of Caring
program and supports their values -- Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Trust
and Family. I use them as the standard of behavior in our classroom.
We support the school's statement: "Our mission: Student Success". Effort
brings ability, so increased effort brings increased ability. You can't
fail if you keep trying.
