THIS IS OCT. 16TH
THIS WEEK WE WERE ABLE TO FINISH THE LAST OF OUR THEME PLAYS. STUDENTS DID A
GREAT JOB AND RELIEVED TO HAVE THEM OVER WITH! IT WAS A LOT OF WORK BUT THEY
REALLY CAME THROUGH.
RIGHT NOW WE ARE WORKING WITH SCENE AND CHARACTER ANALYSIS. WE ARE WORKING
ON THE SKILLS OF HOW TO ANALYZE A SCRIPT AND USE THOSE SKILLS IN AUDITIONING.
THANK YOU TO ALL PARENTS FOR YOUR PERMISSION SLIPS FOR THEM TO VIEW "THE BAD
SEED." WE WORKED FROM A SMALL PIECE OF THE SCRIPT FOR A DEMONSTRATION ON
ANALYSIS AND STUDENTS REALLY WANTED TO VIEW IT AFTERWARD. WE WILL FINISH THE
FILM ON MONDAY.
WE WILL THEN BE WORKING WITH "EUTDES." THESE ARE NUETRAL SCENES IN WHICH
STUDENTS CAN PRACTICE ANALYSIS SKILLS QUICKLY. IN ANALYZIN THE SCENE,
STUDENTS WILL MAKE STRONG CHOICES CONCERNING: WHO THEY ARE, WHAT THE
RELATIONSHIP IS BETWEEN CHARACTERS AND HOW TO SHOW THAT, WHAT THE CHARACTERS
WANT (CONFLICT), WHY THEY WANT IT (MOTIVATION), AND HOW THEY GO ABOUT GETTING
WHAT THEY WANT (STRAGEGY). WE WILL ALSO BE DOING SOME SENSORY WORK LEARNING
HOW TO BRING THE SENSEN INTO THE ACTING EXPERIENCE AS WELL AS AUDITIONING.
STUDENTS SHOULD CURRENTLY BE PREPARING FOR THEIR FIRST AUDITION WHICH IS THE
INTERVIEW. EACH STUDENT WILL COME INTO A MOCK SETTING OF AUDITIONING AND BE
EXPECTED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION, "TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF." STUDENTS HAVE
BEEN INSTRUCTED TO TELL EXPERIENCES SHOWING WHO THEY ARE RATHER THAN STATING
FACTS ABOUT THEMSELVES. AUDITIONERS ARE USUALLY ASKING THEM TO SHOW WHO THEY
ARE. THE FACTS THEY CAN SEE ON A RESUME.
