GT Term ProjectThis is a year-long project where the student will create their own country of the future. Each term a new aspect of that country will be presented. The projects must be turned in on the date specified which is generally 1 week before the midterm of each term. If the student does not turn it in on or before the specified date, they will receive an F at midterm for that term. Please have fun with these projects and do a great job on them!

The map should be colored, map keyed, and well done. Computer use should be minimal. You will be graded mostly on originality and completeness. Good luck, have fun, and do a good job.
Magazine
Term 2 Due DECEMBER 3
Your country has been featured in an inter-galactic travel magazine. You must make the entire future magazine about your country so that people will want to visit there. The magazine’s official title is Final Frontier. Do the entire magazine around the subject of your country. You must include advertisements, table of contents, associated articles, pictures, information about your country (i.e., history, religion, economy, points of interest, travel, culture, energy sources, etc.). You may choose your own format. Make everyone want to come and visit your country of the future.
Term 3 Due FEBRUARY 18You are going to design and draw the capital city of your country. You should plan or include everything in your city design necessary to maintain life (i.e., sewage plants, water sources, treatment plants, housing, recreation, schools, business areas, industrial areas, food sources, resources, cemeteries, etc.). Your capital city must be no smaller than 100,000 living people, but it can be much larger. Remember, with so many people to provide for you will have to think big in your population size, but small in the dimensions you are designing. When you draw your city, computer use should be minimal. Give us a clear idea of what your city looks like. The size of your city map should be no larger than one-half of a poster board and no smaller than an 11 x 14 piece of paper. Drawings should be labeled and colored. Flag/Monetary System
Term 4 Due APRIL 29You will create the national flag of your country. You will design it, draw it, and color it. The flag must be on 8 ½ x 11 paper. The design and colors of your flag will all have to have meaning to the history, culture, and people of your society. Do a good job, be neat, creative, original and have fun. A written explanation of what your flag symbolism means must accompany your flag. You will also create the monetary system of your country. You should design and make the paper money of your monetary system. Design, color, or pictures should be closely tied into your country’s history, environment, government system- whatever. Make sure an explanation of the currency and its symbolism accompanies your money. You will need to explain how the monetary system of your country works in your country. Please do not use the computer for either of these systems. Be creative, original, and have fun! You must keep this paper in your folder at all times to remind you of due dates coming up. All projects are due on or before the specified date. THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE. |
