SPANISH NOUNS:

Spanish nouns are classed into two groups: masculine and feminine.
Masculine nouns are those nouns which end in "O" or a consonant.

Feminine nouns are nouns that end in "-a", "-ción", "-sión", or "-dad".

ADJECTIVES in SPANISH:

In Spanish, adjectives usually follow nouns:
example--"gato negro" "cat black"
Spanish nouns rule the adjectives:
---If the noun is singular, the adjective is singular.
---If the noun is plural, the adjective is plural.
---If the noun is feminine, the adjective is feminine.
---If the noun is masculine, the adjective is masculine.

PAST TENSE (PRETERITE)

We will be focusing on two PAST TENSES: preterite and the imperfect.
The "preterite" is used when talking about a specific time period.
The "preterite" sends the message the action began and ended--
For example:
I ate fish last night(for dinner). (action began and ended)
Yo comí el pescado anoche.

PAST TENSE (IMPERFECT):

The "imperfect" is used when talking about a vague time period.
The "imperfect" is also used when the action is repetitive.
Key words: "used to ..."
For example:
I used to swim to school every day. (repetitive action)
Yo nadaba a la escuela cada día.

PERSONAL "A" :

When one person does an action to another person, you insert
the "personal 'a' between the action and the second person.
For example:
The cannibal ate the teacher.
El caníbal comió a la profesora.

Yo acabo de = "I just did something" or "I just finished something"
For example:
Acabo de comer un hamburguesa.
I just ate a hamburger.
Acabar de has an infinitive following the "de"---
Acabo de + infinitive
Acabas de + infinitive
Ella acaba de + infinitive
Acabamos de + infinitive
etc.
Ellos acaban de bailar la Macarena.
They just finished dancing the Macarena.
or
They just danced the Macarena.
