P.E. Disclosure

Learning Activities:
     1. Skill Development  2. Tournament Play  3. Skills Testing

P.E. Clothing:
     1. White and Navy T-shirts with students name on the front left shoulder
        with a permanent marker.  You can order these T-shirts through the 
        P.E. department for $6.00 for 1 or $10.00 for 2.
     2. Shorts, seperate from those worn to school, with name on inside tag
        or waistband.  Shorts must be athletic type, not cut-offs, snug enough
        to stay up when active.
     3. White socks
     4. Gym shoes, non-marking
     5. Sweat shirt or light jacket for cooler days outside

Other Items:
     1. Lock: combination lock only, available for purchase from the main 
        office for $4.00.
     2. Pencil: #2 to keep in gym locker for test days.
     3. Elastic bands for long hair.
     4. Optional: deodorant and small container for jewelry or valuables to be
        kept in during class.

Classroom Procedures and Expectations:
     1. P.E. clothes are to be taken home on Fridays, (not during the week),
        laundered and brought back to school on Mondays.
     2. Students must be dressed every day, in proper uniform, and seated in
        pre-selected rows for roll call 3-4 minutes after the tardy bell 
        rings.
     3. Students must sit quietly and attentively during roll call.
     4. Students will be expected to participate in class activities and to
        display good sportsmanship.
     5. During the class period, the rest rooms, drinking fountains, or trips
        to the lockers will not be allowed, (except for emergencies).  This 
        should be taken care of before class begins.
     6. Equipment will be used only according to instructional guidelines.
        Students will not get out the equipment without the teacher's 
        permission.  Students will be responsible for damaging or unsafe use
        of the equipment.  Students are expected to return equipment to its 
        proper storage space when instructed.
     7. After dressing, students will remain in the gym or locker room until
        the final bell rings.  No wandering the halls
     8. Safety is of great concern.  If any injury should occur, please notify
        the teacher immediately.
     9. Chewing gum, candy, food, drinks are not allowed in the gym or locker
        room. 
    10. Jewelry should be locked up with other valuables in your locker during
        class.  Clothing and valuables are to be locked in the long lockers 
        during class only.  Your assigned lockers are the small lockers, which
        is where your P.E. clothes belong when you leave class.

Absences:
     Credit lost during absences can be made up with 30-60 minutes of exercise
     or activity for each day that is missed.  A make-up sheet is available 
     to fill out with your absence make-up information.  Please talk to your 
     teacher if you will be absent for an extended period of time so that 
     make-up credit can be arranged.

Excuses:
     A written excuse is required for students with injuries or illness if    
     they are to be excused from participation.  A parental excuse with 
     parent/guardian signature and telephone number will excuse a student from
     activity for up to three days within a two week period.  Additional days
     of non-participation will be excused only by a doctor's request for no
     P.E. activity.  Non-participating students may be required to complete
     another assignment to be turned in at the end of the class to receive 
     credit. 

Grading:
     The quarter grade will be divided into two parts:
     1. Participation (75%)
     2. Test scores (25%), skills tests and written exams.
     Each day students will recieve 5 points for properly dressing and 
     participating in the daily activities.  Students can loose up to 3 points
     a day for not getting dressed in P.E. clothes.  They can loose all 5
     points for not particpating.

Grading Scale:
     100%-94% = A     93%-90% = A-
      89%-87% = B+    86%-84% = B     83%-80% = B-
      79%-77% = C+    76%-74% = C     73%-70% = C-
      69%-67% = D+    66%-64% = D     63%-60% = D-
      59%- 0% = F
