If I'm absent, how long do I have to get in the assignment for credit?

Your student has one day after returning from being absent to turn in the
missed work. Special arrangements will be made for students who are absent
for extended periods of time.

How long do I have to make up a test after being absent?

Do you offer any extra credit during the term?

Yes, most assignments and tests have built in points for extra credit when
the student does much better than his/her peers. I also offer extra credit
for getting the National Spanish Exam Log in early. It is not my intent to
have extra credit makeup for missed work.

Can my student get extra help if he/she needs it?

Yes, tutoring sessions are available Monday through Thursday after school
from 2:50 - 3:30 p.m. There is no charge for the tutoring sessions and your
student will earn 1000 pesos for each session. Advanced notice that your
student is participating is encouraged, but I do allow walk-ins.

What can my student do outside of class to increase Spanish fluency?

I recommend your student read aloud in Spanish using any Spanish material
that you feel is suitable. Oral practice out loud brings some remarkable
results in increased fluency. We do a lot of oral work in the class and you
should encourage your student to take advantage of that opportunity to
increase fluency.

How often do you have tests?

This varies, but on average about once a week. Some tests are written and
some are oral. Most tests will be announced well in advance and the date
will be posted on the board.

What is the National Spanish Exam?

A national test sponsored by the national Association of Teachers of Spanish
and Portuguese. It is like the SAT, but its testing demonstrates mastery in
reading, vocabulary, grammar and listening comprehension. We have had
students do very well on this test receiving accolades in the state of Utah
and the nation. This year the test will be taken from Practice Tests given
in the past. The economic conditions of this year made it impossible to fund
test taking or to have students pay for their own test.
