Utilitarian Designs: Students will find 7 pictures of 3 dimensional utilitarian objects (serves a purpose other than just to look at) with interesting design (the design should be uniquely and intentionally designed by someone). Each design should focus on one principles of design and all of the design principles should be represented. Paste the pictures in your sketchbooks and then state the principle and what elements of art are used to follow that principle. (15pts.).
Sculpture designs Students will choose 7 pictures of sculptures that are not utilitarian, but created simply to look at as art. They should be interesting works that they respond to personally. Paste the pictures in your sketchbooks and then state the principle and what elements of art are used to follow that principle (30pts.).
Notes and Vocabulary: Students will learn a new vocabulary for 3d design, especially ceramics (clay and glazes) (10pts.).
Art History: A section in the sketchbook will be devoted to the history of sculpture and 3D design. Students will learn about art history through drawings, criticism, and notes (20pts.).
