Class News

1-  Human Body Unit   May 7^th - May 18^th   - Extended May 23^rd
Unit Goal :  Students will learn that Allah created the human body in the most perfect form.As Muslims, we should appreciate our bodies' physical and mental abilities.  We will learn that Muslims are responsible of taking care of their health - including hygiene and excercise.   
The class will discuss what the prophet Muhammad PBUH advised.  Students will learn that scientists have discovered the scientific reasons for following the Rasul's advice hundreds of years after his death:
1- Not to breathe in the cup when drinking.  (reason - water will go down the air tube)
2- Keep our nails short and clean.  (reason - hygiene -  bacteria gets trapped under long nails)
3- Wudu'u (washing hands frequently helps decrease the spread of disease)


2- Field Day - Friday May 25th , 9:00am - 1:30pm 

Our class is in need of one volunteer who can join us on Field Day. The volunteer will help me set up our canopy, supervise students, accompany students to the restroom, and food  & drinks distribution. 
What do we do on Field Day ?
Students are dropped off by their parents at the park (details & address will be provided soon) at 9:00am.  The first graders will meet under Ms. Manal's canopy.  Ms. Amaarah will announce the start of the games.  There will be several stations with different games and challenges.  Classes will have a snack & water break midmorning then continue the program till half past noon.  Burgers and hotdogs will probably be offered if the school gets enough volunteers to barbeque.  After lunch, students will enjoy fruits and dessert.  We will then pray Jumaa, and students will be dismissed after prayer.  
Support your child's Field Day 
Our past Field Days were wonderful because of our community's support.  Make this a special day for your child  Come and join the fun ! Spend a lovely May day with your child's friends and teachers.  The students are looking forward to competing against teachers and parents too !   
Our Class Needs
I will be providing : 12'x12' canopy for shade , a large cooler on wheels, juice boxes, 2 waterproof picnic blankets, paper towels, wipes, toilet rolls, first aid kit, 2 large water coolers and trash bags.
Parents, please consider sending one of the following :
(1)  crackers
(2) 2 lbs of organic baby carrots
(3) 24 small (6oz) water bottles
(4) 24 cheese sticks
(5) 7 sliced oranges
(6) 20 vanilla pudding cups

(3) Spring Performance - Saturday June 2^nd 

Thank you parents for sending in $10 to cover your child's prop expenses.  We've finished making our props !! We will practicing our song and hand gestures next week inshaAllah. 

Your child will need a DARK t-shirt & dark bottoms (tights, pants, or skirts). 
Color suggestions : navy blue, dark brown, dark grey, dark jeans, or black.

We NEED your help :) 
(1) Organizing our Library
We need a parent to come in to label and organize our class library. You can do it when you drop off your child in the morning, or half an hour before dismissal. We can always schedule a time that suits you. We need all the help we can get !
(2) At-Home projects : cutting, laminating,copying , printing etc....
(3) Chaperones for the upcoming field trips : 3hours Nature Walk , 4 hours Aesop's Fables show
(4) Field Day volunteers - 5 hours
(5) Organizing our online photos page – can be done from home
(6) Cubby Box Labeling
