We are moving into the country level in our study of community. We will
focus on animal adaptations and habitats.
Students will integrate this into the community framework (that we have been
studying since the beginning of the year) for their country project. This
project will be done mostly in class with some work being done at home.
Country assignments will be announced this week, along with project
guidelines, InshaAllah.
We may do an additional small project on habitats, depending on how time
goes. This will conclude our first unit! It's been long but fun.
After the Eid break, we plan to start our study of Ancient Egypt and Simple
Machines (among other topics), which will take us up to the winter break,
approximately. During this unit we will apply our knowledge of community,
including plant and animal communities, to the civilization of ancient
Egypt. If you have any artifacts from Egypt (especially related to ancient
Egypt) that might enrich our room environment (make sure you are not too
concerned about if something might happen to it). Alternatively, if you have
something delicate, we can have an ancient Egypt show and tell day. I am
hoping to organize a field trip to Colvin Mill to supplement our study of
Simple Machines, which is
also part of the Egypt unit. If any parent would like to take the lead on
this, let me know.
