Show & Tell

Show & Tell Schedule

Note to Parents: Show and Tell introduces students to public speaking. The more comfortable students are in front of a class now, the easier it will be for them in later years. Show and Tell is not just for the speakers though; it helps make better listeners as well.

Rules for Show & Tell: 1- No Toys!! Any student who brings a toy for Show & Tell will not be allowed to share. Good items for Show & Tell are photos, souvenirs, something that you collect, an award that you received, something you made, etc.

.

Check back each week to see what items were shared.

 Oct 23- Yusra

"My dad brought it from France. France is a really nice place for perfume. I wear it at home. I wanted to say thank you to my dad, but I didn't say thank you to him yet because he is traveling in another state." Yusra

Oct 25- Sohrob

"This is a picture of my cousins when they were at their 1st day of school. This one was in 3rd, this one in 1st, and this one I don't think was in school. She always says 'Sohrob! Sohrob!' when she sees me."

Oct 30- Sabria

"I got this box from Turkey, but the box is not my show and tell. I just keep it in the box. This is my rock collection. What I think is cool is this rock that has one side with light designs and the other side has dark designs. This rock looks like one of the planets with a dot on it. Most of my rocks are from Florida. I traded some rocks with my brother."

Sabria

Nov 1- Rubas

"First my mom showed me this. Then I did it. I like magnets. My mom tied a string to the little hole in the needle. The needle sticks to the magnets. I know alot of tricks."

Rubas

 Nov 6- Ms. Amy

"This is a meteorite that my dad gave me. It is a metal called iron. It fell to Earth on Feb 12, 1947, at 10:38 in the morning. Sikhote- Alin, Russia."

Ms. Amy

Nov 7- Rida

"This is what my great grandmother made with dry leaves and paint. She gave it to my grandmother. My mother had it when she was a kid. Then she gave it to me. I keep my bangles in it."

Audience question: "Where do you keep it?"

Rida's reply: "Somewhere far from my little brother."

Rida

Nov 8- Osman

"This pocket is not my show and tell. These are some coins I got. This one is in Arabic. I got them from all sorts of places, but mostly from India. This one looks like Queen Elizabeth. On the back of this one is a tea kettle. My favorite one is this one because of the shape. I'm still collecting and maybe I'll get more soon."

Osman

Nov 13- Noor

"This is a thing my dad gave me. It's a LeapPad and inside it is a book. You press here to open it and then before you start you press go. I have a United States page and a planets page too. My favorite page is the piano page."

Noor

 Nov 16- Momin

"I got this rock from outside my new house. I think it was in October. My mom and dad were watching me from the steps and I was riding my bike. Then I went to pick up some rocks. I chose it because it's shiny and has crystals. I collect rocks. I have white rocks, brown rocks, blue rocks, and silver rocks, but I colored the one blue with a highlighter. This was my 2nd favorite, but I lost my favorite. So now this is my favorite."

Momin

Nov 20- Ms. Amy

"These 4 teeth are from a Mosasaur. The Mosasaur lived in the Late Cretaceous Period. That is more than 65 million years ago! The Mosasaur was a marine reptile, which means they lived in water. Many Mosasaurs were over 30 feet long and they lived all over the world, so their fossilized teeth are common."

Ms. Amy

Nov 27- Layla

"This is a porcupine quill from the Reston zoo. Baby porcupines don't have any. The day after they are born, they grow small ones and then they get bigger and bigger. The pointy part sticks out so when the enemy comes too close, the porcupine can poke it. My grandma used it to knit and I had to wait for her to get all her string off it so I could bring it."

Layla

Nov 30- Layanne

"This is a picture that my mom took when she was in high school. She likes it when there is alot of sun in her pictures. That's when she started liking photography alot. It is old now. It's special to her, so I think it's special to everybody."

Layanne

 Dec 4- Kaamila

"This is something my mom and dad got me from Saudi Arabia when they went to the Kaaba. I like this song. I put it on alot. I don't like to drop this because sometimes my baby brother takes it and drops it and it goes schschch! Sometimes I worry that the batteries will get finished because they are from Saudi Arabia. It's my favorite thing in my house because it plays Islamic songs."

Kaamila

  Dec 5- Maahum
Dec 11- Jamilyah
Dec 13- Iliyeen
Dec 18- Hiba

"This is a pen my aunt gave me 2-3 weeks ago. It is special because my aunt gave it to me. I like it because of the bubbles. It lights up. It has tinkerbell inside of it. I got it in December. It writes black."

Jan 3- Hafsah

"This is a map of the UK. I went in an airplane and I went to London. That is the Royal London Guard. My favorite part was how big Windsor Castle was."

Jan 8- Faazil

Jan 10- Amani

"This is a doll I got on Wednesday. You open it up and there's another doll inside. You keep on opening it and the last one is so small. My mom saw this small one and my mom said 'don't let Rahma and Raheema get it'."

Jan 15- Aizah

"This is a purse that my aunt gave me. Part of it is made by hand and some is made by machine. And these are some things that I keep in it, my floss, my pen, a book my dad gave me. When you open it, it feels soft to me. It is from Pakistan. There are a lot of colors on it."

Aizah
