2013-2014 SCHEDULING CALENDAR

Monday, December 10th
The Specialty Center Applications website will be live at 10:00 a.m.  The web address is https://hcpsapps.henrico.k12.va.us/. To access this website, use your view browser, navigate to and login to the application using your HCPS username and password.

Monday, December 17 to Friday, December 21
Byrd School Counselors will go into classrooms with School Course Request Forms to discuss course offerings and scheduling for the 2013-2014 school year.  Draft copies of the School Course Request Forms will be given to the students to take home. 

Monday, January 7 to Friday, January 18
Byrd School Counselors visit Elementary schools and go over the School Course Request Forms for Rising 6th Graders.  Draft copies of the School Course Request Form will be given to the students to take home.

Tuesday, January 8
Byrd Principal's Coffee - Scheduling is the topic.

Friday, January 11
Freeman, Godwin and Tucker School Counselors will meet during the school day to talk to 8th Grade Byrd students about the course offerings for the 2013-2014 school year.  Draft copies of the School Course Request Forms will be given to the students to take home.

Monday, January 14th
Godwin High School Curriculum Fair, 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, January 31
Curriculum Night for all grade levels, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday, February 12
Planning Guide Meeting for Rising 6th Graders (following parent/teacher conferences)


**Thank you for coming to the Byrd Electives Fair.  For those of you who could not attend, please note the following dates for current Byrd 6th, 7th and 8th graders**

It is the goal of the Byrd School Counseling Department to assist students and parents in making important educational decisions.  Below is the scheduling timeline for the 2013-2014 school year.  The dates listed below are based on the deadlines set by HCPS for course selection. 

Byrd students and parents are encouraged to contact their assigned school counselor if they have any questions regarding the scheduling process.

Monday, February 11
The official 2013-2014 Student Course Request Forms will be distributed to all current Byrd students (Teachers would have made recommendations for required courses).  Look for this important document, sign and return to the school counselors by the due date, Friday, February 15th.

The color of the Student Course Request Forms for each grade level is as follows:
Rising 7th grade - pink
Rising 8th grade - blue
Rising 9th grade - yellow (legal paper size)

Tuesday, February 12th
Parent/Teacher Conferences

Monday, February 11 to Friday, February 15
Student Course Request forms due to Byrd

Friday, March 22
Deadline to request a schedule change.  Requests will be honored only if you meet the course criteria and space availability.
Deadline to return completed Student Course Request Forms.  Late forms will be collected, but course choices will be honored upon meeting course criteria and/or space availability.  Counselors will choose electives for students who do not return their forms on this date.  PLEASE remind your child to turn in his/her form!!!


Rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade Byrd students will return completed Student Course Request Forms to their Block 1.

Friday, February 10
