Advance College Academies

Henrico County Public Schools and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College have partnered to create the Advance College Academy (ACA), a concurrent enrollment program that allows high school students to earn an Associate of Science degree in either Business Administration or Social Sciences during their four years in high school.  Successful graduates will have 61 credits eligible for transfer to a four-year college or university.

Technical Center Programs

Two technical centers offer one- and two-year courses in skill-based programs to all Henrico County high school juniors and seniors.  The mission of these programs is to prepare students for job-entry skills and/or post-secondary education.  Students planning to take a technical center program should be in a rigorous Tech Prep core curriculum cluster at their home high school to prepare for two- or three-credit technical courses during their junior/senior years.  Many of the technical center programs lead to licensure or certification upon successful completion.

Although there are three technical centers, students from Deep Run, Freeman, Godwin, Hermitage, and Tucker high schools attend Hermitage Technical Center unless the technical program is offered only at Highland Springs Technical Center.

Admission is through an application process.

Virginia Graduation Requirements
The resources available on the Virginia Department of Education website (see below) explain Virginia's graduation requirements in effect when a student enters the ninth grade for the first time.  They also provide information on the many options now available to students for earning a high school diploma.  You also will find information on how students can get even more out of their high school experience by accepting the challenge of advanced sources.
