I have lived in Blacksburg since I was two years old. My father is a retired
Virginia Tech professor. After changing my major four times at Virginia
Tech, I settled on Art. This is my 23rd year with Montgomery County Schools.
The first 10 were at Blacksburg High School. My husband teaches Biology and
Life Sciences at Narrows High school and we have two children. Our son is a
senior at BHS and our daughter is a sophmore. A number of pets complete our
family: one dog, three cats, a guinea pig and five aquariums. In our off
hours my family likes to camp and hike, read, watch movies and of course we
love art.
I hope you have a great year in art and if at anytime there is a problem,
please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Advanced Art
Advanced Art is an all year course for eighth graders who have successfully
completed a full year of art in the seventh grade. This year will continue to
utilize the elements and principles of art taught last year. There will be an
emphasis on composition and we will begin to focus on individual research and
creative problem solving.
Fine Arts 6
Fine Arts is a an exploratory course which give students the opportunity to
experience one semester of beginning art and one semester of music study in
guitar. During the semester of art, students will be introduced to both two
and three dimensional art experiences.
We will once again end our year with a large student exhibit therefore, I
will keep all student work at school and send it home after the Fine Arts
Festival. I really think this is going to be a terrific year with some
incredible projects!
