The 2009-2010 school year will mark my 10th year of teaching! I completed my
first year of teaching in Dinwiddie County. My career at Crewe Primary has
consisted of teaching Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. This is my
first time teaching 3rd graders and I am so excited. Reading is very
important to me and it's one of the things I love doing! I hope my students
will see this passion in me and will become excited about reading for their
own pleasure!
I am married to a wonderful husband who is a volunteer fireman (I'm very
proud). We have two cute little boys that are ages 6 and 4. We have one cat
named Prancer and two miniature poodles, Laurie and Alvin.
My favorite things to do are to play with my children, read, take pictures
and scrapbook. I love to sit on the porch swing and listen to the rain or
windchimes.

Favorite candy: Anything chocolate and with caramel!
Favorite restaurant: Outback Steakhouse, Cracker Barrel, Acapulcos (Mexican)

My goal is to provide an environment that is safe, encouraging and friendly
where students can feel free to learn and explore. I strive to provide an
education that is both fun and challenging. I believe that all children can
learn when given the right tools. Children learn at different paces. To
reach all of my students I use a variety of strategies, such as art
projects, cooperative groups, hands-on experiments, Video Clips from Learn
360, PowerPoint presentations, Jeopardy games,etc. I hope to
encourage a love for lifelong learning in all of my students!
