Reading Mastery Plus is the core reading program for students at CCES in grades K-5. It is a comprehensive Direct Instruction reading program. The primary goal of Reading Mastery Plus is to develop skilled readers who can decode and comprehend a wide variety of content material and literature. New concepts and skills are taught in small steps to ensure success the first time. Students are provided multiple opportunities to practice all concepts and skills so they achieve mastery and develop efficient strategies for learning. All students are placement tested to determine their ability level and are placed in the appropriate reading groups. Every student learns at a different pace. As students move through the program, placement may change according to mastery level.
