Reading Logs are due December 15. In order to earn an A, students must read a minimum of 10 3rd Grade level books. If your child feels that his/her book should be worth more than one point, please send it in with him/her so I can review it.
Benchmarks will be from December 15 through December 17. I have high hopes that all the students will continue to improve their benchmark scores and I appreciate any help parents are giving at home.
Reading aloud and asking questions during and after reading is a great way to build comprehension skills as well as fluency. Also visit the VA DOE's website to download past SOL tests your child can use for practice. The main goal at this point in the year is to get them used to the format of the questions.
The next Scholastic Book orders will go home next week. Be on the lookout for great books for the reading logs. I am so excited to see the number of books ordered for the kids this year! Your support is outstanding!!!
