I began my career at Fairfield Elementary as a volunteer PTA member. All four of my boys have attended Fairfield at some point in their elementary years. I attended Va. Tech, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1976. Following many years of moving with my husband's career in the U.S. Navy, I completed my Virginia State Teacher licensing at Virginia Wesleyan College. Virginia Beach has been our home for the past 14 years.

This is my second year at the third grade level, and I have spent many years working in early childhood education. This will be my 8th year at Fairfield Elementary, and I was a pre-kindergarten teacher prior to working for Va. Beach City Public Schools. Being a teacher is a most rewarding career and I look forward to helping guide your child on their education journey this year and believe that we will have a great year!

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that each child inertly loves to learn and that learning never ceases throughout one's life. By providing a positive, cooperative, hands-on learning environment for each child, the school becomes a place where the teachers guide the students to learn and discover each day. It has continuously been proven that learning occurs better if the teacher, parent, child, and school community are involved together. My experience has shown this to be true and I look forward to having parents and family members volunteer in any way possible. It is my goal this year that together we will make third grade a successful learning experience for your child.
