Mrs. Rhea, is a graduate of Longwood College where she was a stand out field
hockey player, and is now in her 14th year as an Earth Science teacher. She
is married and has three children, one of which is a student at Cox High
School. Mrs. Rhea also attended Cox High School as a student and was
fortunate enough to be able to teach at her alma mater. Mrs. Rhea has many
accomplishments in her career field as being named a distinguished teacher
in 2004, and being tagged by the superintendent of schools. She played for
Cox's Field Hockey team, which had the honor of winning the first ever state
field hockey championship in the schools history. Her daughter has carried
on her legacy by winning her second straight state title as a sophomore this
school year, the schools 15th field hockey title and 33rd state title over
all.
Mr. Nelson has recently graduated The George Washington University with an
Ed.S in administation and leadership, and has a Master's in Special
Education from Old Dominion. Coach Nelson's under graduate degree was
obtained from Ouachita Baptist University, where he finished his college
baseball experience. Mr. Nelson's orginal roots are from Florida, where he
graduated high school and was a stand out baseball and football player,
and was a late round draft pick for the Dodger's. After completing his
undergraduate degree, Mr. Nelson joined the military where he extensively
traveled the globe, serving and protecting. Coach Nelson is now in his
seventh year as a teacher here at Cox High School, and is a
collaborating teacher with Mrs. Rhea. Coach Nelson does a whole host of jobs
at Cox which include Asst. Football coach, Asst. Student Activities/
Athletic Director, and other department related tasks. Coach Nelson is
married, but has no kids unless you count two large yellow labs.
