Math
Students should be practicing subtraction and multiplication facts nightly.  The goal is speed and accuracy.  Card and dice games can be used at home to reinforce this skill. 

Want more homework?  Students can access the Math & Science Portaportals for websites that provide excellent  practice in the form of flashcard and worksheet makers, interactive games, and timed tests.   Click on the Links page to get there! 

One particular recommended site on the portaportal is Xtra Math.  Students' progress can be tracked over time and reports are sent to me via email.  The computer will give them an initial placement test and then the facts that students still need to practice for mastery.  There is a classroom code which will only need to be entered once on your home computer.  Your child will also need to know his/her pin number.  This information will be coming home soon in your child's homework folder.

IXL Math is another great math site on the portaportal where students can receive reinforcement of math skills correlated to the third grade VA SOL Math Standards.  Again, your child will need a username and password to access this site, and this information will be sent home in your child's homework folder.

Science
Please review study guides sent home in your child's homework folder nightly to prepare for unit assessments.  If you have misplaced a study guide, go to the study guide page to retrieve an uploaded copy.  Notices of all test dates will be sent home in your child's homework folder.
