Math Facts

First Graders will be learning addition and subtraction facts in families.
This means we will learn all the facts that add up to a particular number
and the related subtraction facts. We will begin the year by memorizing the
facts that sum to 5 or less. Later in the month, we will begin subtraction.

These facts are:

0 + 1 = 1 0 + 2 = 2 0 + 3 = 3 0 + 4 = 4 0 + 5 = 5
1 + 0 = 1 1 + 1 = 2 1 + 2 = 3 1 + 3 = 4 1 + 4 = 5
              2 + 0 = 2 2 + 1 = 3 2 + 2 = 4 2 + 3 = 5
                           3 + 0 = 3 3 + 1 = 4 3 + 2 = 5
                                        4 + 0 = 4 4 + 1 = 5
                                                     5 + 0 = 5

We will be working with numbers up to 100: counting, reading and writing
these numbers will all be a part of the early math work. Help you child by
pointing out numbers in their environment and showing them the many ways we
use numbers each day.
