We are continuing to learn new addition and subtraction facts in groups by
the sum (all combinations that sum up to a given number) and the related
subtraction facts. The most recent set of facts we learned is the 7 Family.
7 + 0 = 7 6 + 1 = 7 5 + 2 = 7 3 + 4 = 7
0 + 7 = 7 1 + 6 = 7 2 + 5 = 7 4 + 3 = 7
7 - 7 = 0 7 - 6 = 1 7 - 5 = 2 7 - 4 - 3
7 - 0 = 7 7 - 1 = 6 7 - 2 = 5 7 - 3 = 4
We have also begun our Math Power Program. This program provides a challenge
for students who have learned their facts. We begin with 50 addition facts
that sum to 10 or less, and as the child passes each sheet, they move on the
the next level.
We have also been working with numbers to 100, and will begin to work with
numbers greater thatn 100. We are learning to count by ones, tens, fives and
now by twos. We are reading clocks to the hour, and will soon add clocks to
the half hour.
