May is here already and everything is in bloom.  I love 
      this time of year.  The children are ready to be outside and
      really don't feel like working.

We do have some exciting bits of nature in our classroom.
     Our tadpole has it's front legs, is very active and is getting
     fat.  We hope he will completely become a frog before school
     is out for the summer.  Our five caterpillars have made their
     chrysalis' and we are waiting for butterflies to emerge.

May is also the month to begin practicing for our end of  
     the year program.  The children have learned many songs and are
     excited about singing them for you.

Our letters this month are Ww,Xx,Yy and Zz.  For the letter
     "X" we will have a treasure hunt in which "X marks the spot."
     For the letter "Z" we will have our very own Gloria Dei zoo.  
     That week each child will be invited to bring a stuffed animal
     to be part of our zoo.

We are looking forward to our field trip on May 9, which
     will coordinate with community helper week.  We will visit the
     public library and learn about the helpers there.  We will also
     go to Dairy Queen to see some of our favorite community helpers
     and sample their product.  The field trip will cost $2.00 per
     child.

As we finish the alphabet and our numerals 1-10, we will 
     also be reviewing the skills we have learned in the pre-k year.
     You can help by reviewing alphabet letters and sounds and
     numbers and their values.

Don't forget to save the date Wed. June 6, at 10:30.  That
     is the time for our closing program.  You don't want to miss it!
